Myotherapy - muscle therapy

Myotherapy is a form of manual therapy which focuses on treating the soft tissue structures- muscles, ligaments, tendons & fascia (connective tissue). Myotherapists are expertly trained by a range of therapists in the health field to assess and treat a variety of chronic and acute musculoskeletal conditions affecting the bodies movement, pain and function.

Myotherapists use a broad range of techniques and provide a far more specific hands on treatment than other massage therapies. Along with exercise prescription and advice on managing your condition, your therapist may include the following modalities as a part of your treatment:

Commonly treated conditions include: headaches, neck & back pain, aches and pains associated with poor posture, sports injuries, RSI (repetitive strain injuries), knee tracking problems, restricted joint movement associated with frozen shoulders and pre/post joint replacement surgeries, ankylosing spondylitis, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, TMJ (jaw pain), pre and post natal pain, as well as muscular tightness in conjunction with the younger athlete's growth and development.

Remedial Massage

Remedial Massage- releases muscle tension and increases tissue flexibility

Remedial Massage treatment is a more simplified hands on approach to releasing built up tension in muscles and aims to balance out the soft tissue, increase circulation and boost lymphatic drainage to reduce pain and promote recovery. By lengthening certain areas of tissue this can take pressure off joints and impinged tendons and benefit overall postural alignment. Ideal for active people who want to maintain flexibility and joint mobility. It also aids in stress or injury induced muscle tension and stiffness.

Sports Massage

Sports Massage-  vigorous deep soft tissue massage to prepare your body for the demands of sport

Sports massage is tailored towards athletes and those who participate in regular physical activity. It is a vigorous form of deep soft tissue massage combined with assisted muscle stretching. Sports massage aims to loosen the muscles and soft tissue, increase flexibility of tendons, reduce cramping and delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) and helps to move lactic acid build up immediately after exercise. When performed on a regular basis it can help reduce the likelihood of sustaining muscle strains, compartment syndromes and repetitive strain injuries (RSI) associated with exercise.
